The Blob Fish is native to the Benthic Zone of the Pacific Ocean, mainly around the coasts of Australia, Tasmania, and Japan. The Benthic Zone is constantly under high pressure since it is at the sea floor, therefore the Blob Fish has a body with a density slightly less than that of water at the sea floor so it can float right above the ground. This also leads to a relative lack of muscle in the Blob Fish's body since it does not need it. The Benthic zone is on average 2-3 degrees Celsius.
